TP-Link Tapo cameras on iPhone and iPad
Tapo models covered by TP-Link’s RTSP/ONVIF instructions, with battery and doorbell exceptions.
App compatibility: not physically tested. These notes describe manufacturer documentation. They do not verify playback, audio, camera movement or recording access in CameraViewer.
Connection details to check
- Documented connection
- RTSP, ONVIF Profile S
- Credentials
- Create a Camera Account in Tapo. This account is separate from the TP-Link login.

Prepare the camera
- Check the exact model and power conditions in TP-Link’s support guide.
- Create the dedicated camera account in the Tapo settings.
- Record the camera address and selected stream.
Model and service limits
- Battery models and doorbells have distinct requirements.
- A codec in a datasheet does not prove the selected RTSP endpoint uses it.
- Dual-lens telephoto streams use /stream6 for high quality or /stream7 for standard quality; ONVIF exposes the wide-angle lens only.
Your next step
Follow the Tapo setup guide, with app hardware playback still pending validation.
