IP camera compatibility: documented versus tested

Compatibility starts with a documented camera endpoint and a reachable network. It ends with a test on the exact camera, firmware and app version.

No physical-camera compatibility is confirmed for the app yet. Current app demonstrations use H.264 fixture video in the simulator.

Exact models before an app test

These documented candidates still need physical-camera tests. A model fact is not an app compatibility verdict.

Check these four details first

  1. Find the camera’s exact model and firmware.
  2. Confirm RTSP, ONVIF or an HTTP image endpoint in its official documentation.
  3. Record the stream codec, configured port and camera account.
  4. Check reachability from your iPhone or iPad on the intended network.

Capabilities need separate tests

Discovery, live video, audio, pan/tilt/zoom controls and recording playback are separate features. A working stream in another viewer does not confirm that all of them work here.
